Questroyal North has announced that 2012 Grade 1 Travers Stakes co-winner Golden Ticket has been retired and will stand the 2016 breeding season at the Questroyal stallion station in Stillwater, NY.
Golden Ticket is a son of Speightstown out of the Deputy Minister mare Business Plan. He won stakes at three, four and five, including the $1,250,000 Grade 1 Travers.
Golden Ticket placed in eight Graded stakes, competed at 13 different tracks and earned $1,362,924. Among his more memorable performances are runner-up finishes in the 2013 Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile at Santa Anita and the Grade 1 Stephen Foster Handicap at Churchill Downs. Golden Ticket was also second by three-quarters of a length in the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby and second by a head to Palace Malice in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap.
Golden Ticket’s sire, Speightstown, has career progeny earnings of more than $64 million and he’s been a top 10 North American sire for six consecutive years. He is the sire of 69 black-type runners, 23 in 2015, including Force Pass, winner of the Grade 1 Derby Invitational at Belmont Park and Rock Fall, winner of the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt at Saratoga. Speightstown is also emerging as a sire of sires – his son Munnings is the Leading Second-Crop Sire and the sire of the 2015 multiple graded stakes-winning filly I’m a Chatterbox.
Golden Ticket will stand for $7500, live foal, as the property of Carter Stewart. For more information contact: Midge Hawver (518) 828-0777, qrstud@mhcable.com, Kelly McCombs, Office Manager (518) 541-3280, Jay Ryan, Farm Manager (518) 441-1005, questroyalnorth@gmail.com.
